RETURNED FROM INJURY INTO RD 11:

Adam Coleman (Force) – Expected to return from a knee injury as early as Rd10.
Jake Gordon (Waratahs) – Rested for Rd 10, Played 40minutes for the Tahs.
Tolu Latu (Waratahs) – Started for the Tahs.
Piers Francis (Blues) – Started for the Blues.
Ash Dixon (Highlanders) – Played off the bench in Rd 11.
Elliot Dixon (Highlanders) – Came back from knee infection, came off the bench for Rd 11
Luke Whitelock (Highlanders) – Started at No.8.
Charlie Ngatai (Chiefs) – Started for the Chiefs after a year out with concussion and managed to dominate, scoring a try to cap off a great comeback..

Michael Leitch (Chiefs) – Rested for Rd 10 only. Started at No. 8.
Nathan Harris (Chiefs)– Came back via the bench for the Chiefs.
Tawera Kerr-Barlow (Chiefs)– Started Rd 11 in his comeback from concussion.
Tendai Mtawarira (Sharks) – Rested for Rd 10, came back via the bench.
Kobus Van Wyk (Sharks) – late pull out in Rd 9 with a quad tear, started Rd 11.
Patrick Lambie (Sharks) – Fractured vertebrae in his lower back. Came back via the bench.
Garth April (Sharks) – A late injury change before the Jaguares game in Rd 7 with a calf strain, On the bench this week.
JD Shickerling (Stormers) – Returned from a minor ankle injury via the bench.
Chris Van Zyl (Stormers) – Came back from concussion. Started Rd 11.
Caylib Oosthuizen (Stormers) – Flew over from South Africa as injury cover
Jacques Potgieter (Bulls) – Started at flanker for the Bulls.
Matias Alemanno (Jaguares) – Back from his bruised shoulder, came back via the bench.
Martin Landajo (Jaguares) – Made his comeback via the bench in Rd 11.
Tomas Lezana (Jaguares) – Started in Rd 11.
Juan Martin Hernandez (Jaguares) – Slotted in at flyhalf for Sanchez.
Kenki Fukoka (Sunwolves) – The classy winger is back, we think just as injury cover but he started for the Sunwolves none the less.
Shota Emi (Sunwolves) – Started for the Sunwolves after fracturing his ribs a few weeks ago. Didn’t play for Japan despite being named in their squad.

Robert Du Preez looks unlikely to play Rd 12 after what looks like a significant shoulder injury.

New Injuries Rd 11:

Robert du Preez (Stormers) – Torn pectoral muscle, could undergo surgery which would rule him out for the season.
Curwin Bosch (Sharks) – Now joined the SA U20’s side to train for the upcoming world cup. Unlikely to play again this season.
Faf De Klerk (Lions) – Rested for Rd12.
Paul Schoeman (Cheetahs) – “Sidelined with injury” – no idea what that means.
Travis Ismaiel (Bulls) – Knee injury that will keep him out for six weeks, back after the international break.
Michael Willemse (Kings) – Appendix removed, back after the international break.
Colby fainga’a (Rebels) – Tight quad, pulled in warm up
James Dargaville (Brumbies) – Not on the two week tour for Rd 13 & 14 so that he can rest his shoulder after off season shoulder surgery.
Aaron Cruden (Chiefs) – Was ruled out due to illness.
Liam squire (Highlanders) – Fractured thumb. Out for 6 weeks, back after the international break. Could be fit for the start of the Lions series.
Luke Whitelock (Highlanders) – Injured during training this week.
Sonny-Bill Williams (Blues) – Concussion
Jimmy Tupou (Blues) – Hamstring, said to be out for 1 wk on the 8th of March. Back for Rd 13?
Nicolas Sanchez (Jaguares)- “Suffered a spasm in the ischio-tibial left during training yesterday” – Translation… Ummmm Hamstring?
Marcos Kremer (Jaguares) – Concussion, going through the return to play protocols.
Emiliano Boffelli (Jaguares) – Ruptured extensor tendon of his index finger. Cleared to train normally with the finger braced. Unclear if this will affect his chances of being picked.

Karmichael Hunt (Reds) – Bruised knee, no ligament damage but missed Rd 11.
Kyle Godwin (Brumbies) – Broken Hand needed an operation. Starting in Rd 12.
Jordan Smiler (Brumbies) – Hamstring injury Rd 7, Starting Rd 12.
Sean McMahon (Rebels) – A knee injury has setback his return date until June, Tony McGahan seems to think he will be right for Rd 12, most likely coming off the bench.
Matt Hodgson (Force) – expected back from his ankle injury
Luke Morahan (Force) – Coming back from his fractured cheekbone
Tatafu Polata-Nau (Force) – Back after being rested in Rd 12.
Andrew Kellaway (Waratahs) – Ruled out for three to six weeks with facial fracture, played club footy in Rd12.
Lionel Cronje (Kings) – Concussion in Rd 10. Undergoing concussion protocols now.
Richard Buckman (Highlanders) – Didn’t make it back from his Achilles injury, should be back for Rd12.
Ihia West (Blues) –  On the bench on his way back from an ankle injury.
Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues) – Back from his back injury and starting.
Tim Nanai-Williams (Chiefs) – Dislocated shoulder rd 3. Likely back Rd 11-12.
Hanro Liebenberg (Bulls) – Suffered a hamstring strain but cleared fit for Rd12.
Jacques Potgieter (Bulls) – High blood pressure for an unknown reason, being pulled from play until it has been looked into.
Arno Botha (Bulls) – Knee injury. Cleared for Rd 13.
JT Jackson (Bulls) – Cleared for Rd 13.
Ruan Steenkamp (Bulls) – Knee injury. Cleared for Rd 13.

NEW ZEALAND

Highlanders
Ben Smith – Sprained ankle, not on the plane for the 2 weeks tour of SA. Aiming to return May 20th against the Force.
Lima Sopoaga – Hamstring injury, being rested an extra week in Rd 11. Should play Rd 12.

Hurricanes
Nehe Milner-Skudder – Fractured Metatarsals (injured Rd 3). Saw a specialist on Monday, healing slower than expected and still can’t take off the moon boot. In serious doubt for the Lions tour (as warned by our resident physio in Rd 3!).
Matt Proctor – Remains sidelined with Concussion Symptoms.
Dane Coles – Calf injury still hasn’t healed. Won’t play Rd 11.
Michael Fatialofa – Having surgery for his dislocated knee cap. “May” return this year.
Reggie Goodes – Ongoing concussion symptoms – out for unknown time.
Loni Uhila – Calf injury – Back in training full training, expected to play club rugby for Rd 11 & 12 before traveling to Pretoria and Perth with the Hurricanes.

Chiefs
Finlay Christie – 3 week ban for stamping on an opponent’s head, starts Rd10.

Crusaders
Digby Ioane – Re-aggravated his pinky finger injury now requiring an operation. Digby has said he was out for five weeks (back Rd 13) but his coach has said there is no timeframe on his recovery.
Israel Dagg – Patella injury sustained rd 3. Playing club rugby in Rd12.
Sam Whitelock – Cited for Striking another Player with the elbow. Banned for Rd 11 & 12.
Kieran Read – Broken Thumb – had surgery after Rd10, normally 6weeks out.

Blues
Rene Ranger – is still out with a sore ankle (updated rd 10).
Jerome Kaino – Out for 6 weeks from Rd 10. Meniscus tear going for surgery.

AUSTRALIA
Waratahs
Jack Dempsey – Right ankle/ leg injury sustained in rd 4. 8-12 wks out.
Taqele Naiyaravoro – In “Major Doubt” for Rd 11 after scans on a hand injury. Hopefully he will be back for the May 21 game against the Rebels.
Michael Wells – Hamstring injury, training on light duties.
Harry Jones – Shoulder injury, training on light duties.

Brumbies
Leslie Leulua’iali’i-Makin – TBA.
Tomas Cubelli – Patella Tendon, hoping to be back for the international break.
Scott Sio – Patella and medial ligament, facing ~2 months on the sideline from Rd 10.

Reds
Nil

Force
Dane Haylet-Petty – Hamstring injury – Said to be out for up to 10 weeks but on the mend ahead of schedule.
Ben McCalman – Refractured his Scapula (for the 3rd time) against the Kings. McCalman will miss at least two more games but hopes to be back in time to take on the Reds in Queensland on May 26.
Jermaine Ainsley – Dislocated elbow, possibly back from Rd 13.
Kane Koteka – Returned to full training after concussion.
Marcel Brache – Concussion Rd 10
Michael Ruru – Ankle. Could be back for Rd 13.
Matt Philip – Foot, possibly back in Rd 13.
Chance Peni – Ruptured Groin, could be back after the international break.

Rebels
Nic Stirzaker – Ankle injury, Expected out for 3 weeks – Back Rd 13
Steve Cummins – Concussion, return date TBC.
Lopeti Timani – To miss 4 games for kneeing Rory Arnold, Back Rd 13.
Jordy Reid – Stress fracture in the back. Out for up to 6 weeks from Rd 6
Culum Retallick – Concussion, return date TBC.

Jean-Luc du Plessis – Is progressing well following a pelvic bone stress injury but his return date is now open ended.
Scarra Ntubeni – Back running after ruptured achillies last year
Damian De Allende – Returned to full training this week (RD 12), Available for Rd 13.
Steph de Wit – Fractured his ankle, the bone healing well after surgery.
Rynhardt Elstadt – Complete syndesmosis, to undergo surgery and will be out for 3 months.
Seabelo Senatla – Returned to full training this week (RD 12), Available for Rd 13.
Huw Jones – Torn hamstring, to undergo surgery.
Jacobus Janse van Rensburg – Torn a bicep muscle in Rd 10 and will be out for 4-6 weeks.
Eben Etzebeth – Sent home to SA with a niggling calf injury. Likely back Rd 13 after the bye.
Pieter-Steph du Toit -Sent home to SA with a niggling knee injury. Likely back Rd 13 after the bye.
Kurt Coleman – Tore a deltoid ligament in his ankle, no news on return date but it won’t be before their Rd 12 bye.
Frans Malherbe – Rested for Rd 11 due to the Springbok management plan. Back Rd 13.

Lions
Jaco Kriel – knee injury, not on Aussie tour so back earliest rd 13.
Dylan Smith – Shoulder operation – 4 months
Ruan Combrinck – Got through his club game so should be available for the super rugby side again. Now we are just waiting to see if they fly him on tour for Rd 12
Rohan Janse Van Rensburg – LCL & Posterolateral corner injury. Out for 12 weeks, Should be the season.
Jaco Van Der Walt – Dislocated foot, Hopefully back in 4 weeks (Rd 12)
Madosh Tambwe – Meant to be on leave with the South African under 20’s side but couldn’t get a passport. Played in the Lions development side in Rd 11, available for selection asap but will struggle to get game time.

Cheetahs
Reniel Hugo – Knee injury Rd 2, Likely back Rd 10
Nico Lee – Grade 2 ankle injury, sidelined for 4-6 weeks, back after the June break – Rd 15.

Kings
Malcolm Jaer – MCL injury in Rd 9. (Updated after Rd 10) Expected back in 2 weeks.
Ruan Lerm – Ankle injury, expected back in Rd 12 after the bye.
CJ Velleman – Knee, has returned to full contact training. Likely to return via the Supersport Challenge side in Rd 12. Should play Rd 13.
Rudi Van Rooyen – Ankle Surgery. Out for 12 weeks.
Schalk Ferreira – Torn Biceps – had an operation, Aiming to be right for the last 3 rounds of the season.
Waylon Murray – Hamstring injury, sent home from tour of Aus. Waiting on further scans for more news.

Bulls
John-Roy Jenkinson – Grade 2 hamstring injury. To miss at least 1 more week.
Handre Pollard – Ankle Injury, out for 8-10 weeks (late June).
Dries Swanepoel – Expected back Rd 13.

Thomas Lavanini – ACL reconstruction – now back training with the group
Juan Manuel Leguizamón – Knee Ligament Damage. Hoping for a return any week now.
Ramiro Moyano – AC jt sprain against the Sharks , no news on return date yet. My gut feeling is 2-4 weeks from Rd 11..

Sunwolves
Liaki Moli – Concussion. Sent home to Japan, likely back rd 13 after the bye.
Taakaki Nakazuru – Went off 3 minutes in to the game after a big hit (Rd 9). No further news.
Takeshi Kizu  -Reported as injured, not travelling to Argentina. No other news available
Heiichiro ito  – stretchered off after a scrum- looks like neck
Teruya Goto – Injured before half time – leg??
Hayden Cripps – Right knee injury
